Reviewing products and ideas to make independent living safer and easier.

Who are you? Life is filled with expectations. Unfortunately, many of these expectations were in place before you were born. You were expected to roll over, walk, and talk on schedule or you were deemed abnormal, and it goes on from there. An entire lifetime can slip away if you put too much stock on expectations set by other people.
When was the last time that you indulged in a little introspection and self-reflection? Have you taken the time to explore some of your own thoughts, feelings, and experiences?
Think about it. What do you really want? This may be your last chance to figure it all out.
Take time to explore your interests without external expectations. What if the end goal is to simply have fun or to have the latitude to form your own opinions. The same could be said about developing your own values and acting on them.
Work with your own strengths and weaknesses. You should know what they are by now. You needn’t change too much; build on what you already have and stick to your guns.
Put yourself first for a change; it isn’t as selfish as you might have supposed. It is easy to forget your own needs if you are constantly being pressured to conform.
Put yourself first. Start with little things like getting enough sleep, eating healthy meals, and making exercise a part of your life. Be willing to delegate. It is human nature to feel that if you want something to do right you have to do it yourself, but this isn’t necessarily so.
Ask for help. This is the hardest thing in the world for seniors to do. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of strength. Do something. Evolve. it isn’t too late to embrace new goals and projects if you are realistic. You may not be able to climb Mount Kilimanjaro anymore, but you can develop new interests. Do whatever it takes to be independent. There is no age limit on personal growth.
